This special Scottish-English collaboration makes a very rare live appearance, its first in 2 years, after a sellout Celtic Connections appearance in 2017, and glowing reviews for debut CD, Far Flung Corners.
English composer and musician extraordinaire, Alex Roberts (www.alexrobertsmusic.com), will perform some of his beautiful back catalogue of pieces for voice and guitar. Alex is a wonderful storyteller, and his music wraps his tales up in magic. Be prepared to be swept away….
Alex will then join Far Flung Collective, the ensemble inspired by the cultures, landscapes, common challenges and differences between distant corners of the British Isles. FFC also features Uist-based fiddlers and composers, Anna-Wendy Stevenson, and Simon Bradley, English multi-instrumentalist Dan Somogyi, young vocalist / fiddle player Mabel Duncan, accordionist Stephen Drummond and special guests.
A musical response to fragile yet vital places, cultures and traditions, Far Flung Collective originally started as a SoundStorm music education project before developing into a full artistic collaboration. FFC perform original songs, plus Anna-Wendy’s beautiful Suite Uist, inspired by the landscapes of her home islands.
