Songwriters Circle

Are you a songwriter, or aspiring to be?

An Lanntair’s monthly songwriters’ circle is an opportunity to share your music with other songwriters. With no audience and no expectations, you can try out new ideas, ask for feedback, and perhaps even find someone new to collaborate with.

We welcome musicians at any stage in their creative development, from beginners to experienced musicians looking to try out something new.

The songwriters’ circle is hosted by An Lanntair’s artist support co-ordinator (and songwriter) Andrew Eaton-Lewis.

This festival is unique as it was made and brought to you by people with Dementia and their family members. Dementia is a prevalent issue growing world wide and these wonderful people want to show you that Dementia isn’t the end of the word but the start of something new.

Caught in This Moment in Time

A one-act play by Ron Coleman that explores one person’s attempt to use Alexa (Artificial Intelligence) to retain their autonomy despite having Dementia.

Artist Gathering

An Lanntair’s Artist Gatherings are informal, monthly social events for island artists. Everyone is welcome, from visual artists to musicians, writers, choreographers, and theatre / film-makers.

Each month we invite guests – a mix of island-based creatives and special guests from outside of the Hebrides – to talk about their creative process and share projects they have been working on.

Hand-made Christmas Workshops – Proposals to Lead a Class

Hand-made and heart-felt Christmas gifts and trimmings are the most special. Are you a creative who makes cards / decorations / table centres or gifts?

If you have skills you would like to teach others, you can run a festive workshops in December in An Lanntair’s art room. Get in touch before Friday 10th November with your idea and a photo of your craft.

Let us know what you make, and how you will show others how to make it. Fees will be paid at Scottish Artist Union rates to self-employed artists and makers. Sessions will run in An Lanntair’s art room (or potentially another community venue depending on demand) in December 2023. Sessions will be bookable through An Lanntair, and will go ahead if a minimum number of tickets are booked.

Andrew Bird: Taken Seriously

Everything is taken so seriously now. If it’s going to be up to Andrew to point out how ridiculous it all is then he’s willing to take that job on. From race and religion to deodorant adverts, being diagnosed with sleep apnea, and people that have a flag on their house.

After his TV appearance on ‘The Russell Howard Hour’, Andrew supported Russell Howard on his massive national tour including six straight shows at The London Palladium.

In the summer of 2014 – the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings – octogenarian Bernie Jordan made global headlines. It was a story that captured the imagination of the world. He’d staged a “great escape” from his care home to join fellow war veterans on a beach in Normandy, commemorating their fallen comrades.

When a magical meteor crash lands in Adventure City, it gives the PAW Patrol pups superpowers, transforming them into The MIGHTY PUPS! For Skye, the smallest member of the team, her new powers are a dream come true. But things take a turn for the worse when the pups’ arch-rival Humdinger breaks out of jail and teams up with a mad scientist to steal the superpowers for the two villains.

I Know Where I’m Going (PG)

Headstrong Joan Webster sets off, wedding dress in tow, to marry a rich older man on his remote Hebridean island. Stranded on Mull thanks to the weather, Joan finds herself struggling to cope with the unplanned turn of events. Powell and Pressburger weave their course of true love through flashes of surrealism, a life-threatening whirlpool and an ancient curse, disarming and enchanting in equal measure.
