An Lanntair’s record label was set up in 1995, with the aim of providing a permanent recording some of the specially commissioned music featured in our specific projects.
The first of these was Calanais, coinciding with the exhibition of the same name, and featuring artists from the trad, jazz and contemporary musical genres including Martin Taylor and Dougie MacLean. Following releases have been Dhachaigh/Home (The songs of Murdo Macfarlane), The Days Flash Past (Paul Mounsey with traditional Gaelic singers from the Hebrides), Visible From Space (Kevin MacNeil and Willie Campbell), and in 2018, Spiritual Music from the Hebrides, a collection of psalm singing recorded during the project entitled Ballantyne. The latest recording is work produced for the Between Islands project and features new collaborative work produced by artists from Orkney, Shetland and the Hebrides. These include Kris Drever, Saltfishforty, Julie Fowlis, Arthur Nicholson, and Kathleen Macinnes.
An Lanntair CDs can be purchased from our shop or as downloads from all the usual music media channels.
The label is run by An Lanntair’s Head of Performing Arts/Cultural Projects, Alex Macdonald, alex@anlanntair.com
