All that I do – Tom Hickman : workshops for schools

Primary schools:

In this workshop, pupils will have a tour of Tom Hickman’s diverse exhibition ‘All That I Do’ including his embroidered biblical scenes, intricate drawings, shell assemblages and naïve style paintings.  The children will look closely at Tom’s naïve animal images and stitch their own with coloured embroidery threads.  With larger classes it may be necessary to split into smaller groups.  Suitable for P1-7.  Finished artwork will be exhibited in the gallery with Tom’s for the remainder of the show.

Secondary schools:

For Secondary Art and Design Pupils, Tom Hickman will give a tour of his exhibition and talk about his non-traditional route into art, his creative lifestyle and obsessions.  The tour will last for up to an hour.

Also available for Secondary pupils is a practical workshop in making ‘free’ environmentally friendly art – the use of reclaimed and natural found objects. Using shells, feathers, drift wood, wool and sea glass, pupils will explore the art of encrustation to create a mirror frame.  Aimed at S1 + S2 Art and Design pupils.  Please bring interesting ‘found’ natural materials.
