An Lanntair’s Spring/Summer Forecourt Gigs provided a welcome platform for local musicians to perform – and this Autumn/Winter the arts centre continues spotlighting the islands’ talent with the relaunch of its monthly ‘New Music Sessions’.

Starting on October 6th with Felix Saunders, supported by Delusion, the New Music Sessions will take place in the auditorium on the first Wednesday night of each month; and An Lanntair is calling to local music-makers to get in touch if they wish to perform.

An Lanntair’s Mike Adkins expands: “Each month we’ll be asking an established local artist or band to come along and showcase their latest tunes, our aim being to provide a space where artists can play original material without feeling the pressure to play all the usual cover versions – we’re tempted to say no Wagon Wheel, although the odd imaginative cover will be welcome!

“And we’d also like new and young bands to come along and play. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played much before, you don’t even need all the gear as we’ll supply drums, amps, and mics – just bring your instruments, plug in, and make some noise!”

Presenting a relaxed, intimate performance venue, the New Music Sessions – which are FREE to attend – will see An Lanntair’s auditorium tiered-seating set back to allow the full floor-space for performers and audience to enjoy an evening of top-notch local music.
