In her exhibition ‘Wave Migration‘, painter, screen printer, art teacher and surfer Laura Maynard tells the stories of Lewis surfers through large scale portraits and mixed media pieces. Layered and intertwined within the surfers’ portraits is imagery and symbolism that gives subtle clues to their journey to becoming part of the small close knit surf community.
Upper Primary school pupils can learn Screenprint, Monoprint and collage to create beautiful works inspired by Laura Maynard’s exhibition, Wave Migration, with fellow Printmaker, Alice Macleod. Children will explore the patterns and shapes of maps, waves and contour lines as well as some exciting and fun ways to draw portraits.
The workshop is free and suitable for P5+. Please email a photo of each pupil’s face in advance of the workshop to moira@lanntair.com.
Suitable for upper Primary. Max 10 pupils
Workshops available in An Lanntair until Friday 10th May.
