Established during Lockdown to help keep creatives connected, An Lanntair’s HA! Hebridean Artists blogsite now boasts a wealth of feature blogs, interviews, new music, drama, and art… including a large number of audio recordings of poems and spoken words pieces by island writers Pauline Prior-Pitt (North Uist), and Karl Leon (Lewis).

Pauline Prior-Pitt’s poems alternate the funny and the poignant, beautifully reflecting the preoccupations of women’s lives – her latest collection, Written on the Shore, combining women and the sea.

But Pauline also often writes about North Uist, a land of wind and water and stone; and you can hear the depth of her works in a selection of Pauline’s poems from published collections including Storm Biscuits and Be an Angel.

Also up for your audio enjoyment are works by Lewis based Karl Leon, from portfolio Poems in K Major and his first published collection Poems in K Minor.

‘More than a consummate journeyman with a welcoming, multi-lingual manner’, renaissance-man Karl delivers new works created during Lockdown, as he shared: “It hasn’t been easy to leave my pad, to be honest, but that’s where the creativity comes from, arenas of discomfort.”

As well as listening to Pauline and Karl’s poetry, written text of each work is available to download. All this and more on HA! Hebridean Artists…
