DUAIS SGRÌOBHAIDH DO CHLANN ANN AN GÀIDHLIG
A new writing award, Duais Sgrìobhaidh do Chlann ann an Gàidhlig, has just been launched in the Western Isles. The award, created in partnership by Acair Books, An Lanntair and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Libraries), is aimed at inspiring original Gaelic writing for children and hopes to encourage new authors who may not have thought of writing before.
The award is open to all aspiring writers for children in Scottish Gaelic, wherever they may be, not just those resident in Scotland.
The winner of the 2017 award will be chosen by a panel of independent adjudicators and will be awarded a prize of £500, as well as the option for the work to be published by Acair Books. In 2017, the judges are looking for a story for 5 to 8 year-olds, between 1000 and 2000 words.
The closing date for all submissions is 31 January 2017 and the winners will be announced in March 2017 at an award ceremony at an Lanntair.
