Tha thu air Aigeann m’ Inntinn is a five minute, hand drawn animation based on archive interviews with survivors and witnesses of the Iolaire disaster. Artist Catrìona Black will show the film, talk about the processes she used and demonstrate the software. The talk will introduce pupils to the skills, research, decision making, technology and time that goes into making even a few seconds of animation.
Drawn animation workshops will be available to the classes following the talk, on the same day or in the following weeks. Artists Joe Mahony and Sandra Kennedy will work with pupils to produce a short drawn animation inspired by Tha thu air Aigeann m’ Inntinn. Pupils will learn skills in accessible animation software iStopMotion or I CAN ANIMATE. The animation workshop will take approx 4 hours.
The world première of Tha thu air Aigeann m’ Inntinn was held in An Lanntair in December and it was broadcast on BBC ALBA as part of New Year programming.
