This workshop offers a focus on Hebridean tunes for the fiddle, with particular attention to the stylistic features that give the music its distinctive character. Drawing on the area’s strong piping and Gaelic singing traditions, we’ll explore how to play tunes with phrasing, bowing, and ornamentation that reflect the island’s musical tradition. The aim is to give you some tools to bring a sense of place and authenticity to your playing which can also be applied to other fiddle styles. Teaching will be primarily by ear, but sheet music and supporting materials will be provided after the class.
Level: Upper Intermediate and Advanced
