Creative Connections is a series of free creative workshops for adults over the age of 60 in the Western Isles who feel isolated as a result of their circumstances – be it geographical remoteness, disability or any other disadvantage. If this applies to you, you can book any of our Creative Connections workshops. You can make a booking for a friend or family member if they would like to take part.
Witches & Weeds with artist Tara M Dakini
About 4000 people were accused of Witchcraft during the Scottish Witch Hunts, between 1563 & 1736. These people, of whom 85% were women, have been lost to us in history and their stories forgotten. During this course, led by artist Tara M Dakini, participants will learn about the Scottish Witch Hunts and how to find out the names of the women who were accused as Witches in their area.
We’ll honour their memory by creating simple memorials decorated with wildflower designs using paper, card and gouache paint, with paper-cutting and pop-up card techniques.
The sessions will be delivered via Zoom and a link will be emailed to you. All you need is a device with an internet connection and a quiet space. You will receive a pack of art materials for the course. Please ensure that your email and postal addresses are up to date on your An Lanntair account when booking. If you have left over materials from previous courses, please let us know. If you don’t have a device you can borrow one from An Lanntair for the duration of the course – email moira@anlanntair.com.
Book by 11 Feb to receive materials in time for the first session.
