An Lanntair’s Artist Gatherings are monthly social events for island artists of all disciplines, from music, film and theatre to visual art and design. You do not need to be established or professional to come along – everyone is welcome and we are here to support all forms of creativity.

Each month we invite two special guests to talk about their work. In May we’re delighted to welcome two visiting artists:

Jamie Sutherland is a musician and events programmer who was recently appointed as creative director of SEALL on Skye. Before taking up his new role, Jamie had been music programme manager at Summerhall in Edinburgh since 2015, promoting eight high profile Edinburgh Fringe music programmes. Jamie is also frontman of the acclaimed Scottish band Broken Records (pictured) as well as releasing music under his own name.

Izzy McEvoy is an artist/filmmaker based in London who has exhibited internationally.  Exploring alternative forms of care and therapy, she makes work with people who perform healing roles, counter to mainstream medicine. This has included a shamanic counsellor and psilocybin facilitator, end of life doulas and a horse assisted therapist and herd of horses. Izzy is visiting Lewis supported by Arts Council England’s Develop Your Creative Practice Award, and will be researching weaving in relation to grief and storytelling through a psychoanalytic lens.

This event is part of An Lanntair’s Artist Support Programme, supported by the Foyle Foundation.

If you’d like to share your work at a future Artist Gathering, contact Andrew Eaton-Lewis at andrew@anlanntair.com. All contributors will be paid a fee.

Our next Artist Gathering will be on Friday 21 June, with Jill Smith and Mhairi Law.
