An Lanntair’s Artist Gatherings are informal, monthly get togethers where artists of all disciplines – from music, film and theatre to visual art and design – are invited to share stories, ideas and work in progress.

Our June gathering has a focus on visual art, with contributions from one visiting artist and one Lewis-based artist.

Julie Louise Bacon (pictured) has worked as an independent curator and held directorship and curatorial roles in arts organisations in Québec, England and Ireland, and is currently a Lecturer in Art at Edinburgh College of Art and Adjunct Lecturer at UNSW Art & Design. In June she is doing a residency on Lewis, supported by Edinburgh College of Art, “researching the ways that the sea, the land and language shape experiences of time”.

Painter Debbie Cullis lives on Lewis and runs the Balallan-based gallery and coffee shop Island Arts.

Come along, join the conversation, and get to know other artists.

If you’d like to share your work at a future Artist Gathering, contact Andrew Eaton-Lewis at andrew@anlanntair.com. All contributors will be paid a fee.

(You do not have to be established or professional to attend or take part; we are here to support all forms of creativity.)

Save the dates! Our next Artist Gatherings are scheduled for:

Friday 21 July
Thursday 7 September
