This exhibition shows a small selection of artworks made by participants in recent Creative Connections workshops and marks Healing Arts Scotland week.
Handmade paper: Experimental handmade papers made with a combination of grasses, cotton fibre, dried flowers, onion pulp and skin, cabbage, and recycled papers. Created collaboratively by: Lesley Andrews, Billie Bambridge, Carol Burgis, Fiona Hamer, Wilma MacKenzie, Steven Tod, Kim Walker and Barbara Ziehm.
Starling Spirit: Artworks created in a textiles and mixed media course taught by Annabel Pattulo, inspired by the wisdom of the starling. Participants designed a mobile or installation reflects their own spirit and personal story. Featured artworks by: Wilma MacKenzie, Barbara Ziehm; Alison Fox and Sue Wilson.
Landscapes in Film and Painting: In this online course taught by artist Sandra Kennedy, participants looked at contrasting artists from different places and eras working with landscape in painting and in cinema. Featured artworks by: Gill Price, Margaret Cowie, Alison Fox, Mairi MacCuish and Beverley Murray.
Assemblage boxes: In this class, participants took inspiration from journeys to make assemblage frames inspired by Joseph Cornell. Featured artworks by: Fi Hamer, Margaret Cowie and Anne Edwards.
An Lanntair’s Creative Connections project delivers online and in-person creative workshops for anyone over the age of 60 in the Western Isles who feels isolated because of geographic remote living, disability, ill health, caring commitments or any other reason.
