Often as we grow-up the urge to make art goes away. Even for children the opportunities can be limited. So, huge thanks to Action for Children for providing art workshop sessions for their children and staff. And to An Lanntair for their support: providing a space and for this opportunity to exhibit some of the work made.
These acrylic paintings on canvas by children and staff are a small selection made during a series of workshops last autumn.

We were delighted to work with Sandra on this project. She supported, gave advice and cared for everyone who attended. The children and young people really benefited from creating art works and experimenting with different media. It was clear too, that the staff had strong supportive relationships with the young people they work with.
We have had a long-standing positive partnership with An Lanntair that we hope will continue for years to come. Art is such a great way of letting children and young people express themselves and feel the better for it.

CREATIVE CONNECTIONS
Exhibition run: From 1 June
Mezzanine Gallery
An Lanntair’s Creative Connections project offers creative and sociable workshops for people over 60s to learn new skills and make art together. To date, we have run 246 workshops online and in community venues in Lewis and Harris. In the latest phase, An Lanntair has been working directly with existing community groups, including Western Isles Cancer Care Initiative (WICCI), Tagsa Uibhist, Dun Eisden and Solas.
Throughout the project, many connections have been made which have helped with isolation and improved the mental well-being of participants. The artists involved have shown great generosity in sharing their skills and unique ways of seeing. This exhibition is a celebration of these creative connections, and includes only a small sample of the work made over the last 6 months.
