An Lanntair Cinema will once again welcome in film fans from May 20th with an exciting new cinema programme, including screenings of the Oscar winners Sound of Metal and Judas and the Black Messiah. These plans are subject to moving to COVID Protection Level 2 as expected on May 17, 2021.

The first An Lanntair Cinema screening of 2021 takes place on Thursday 20th May with the remarkable untold story of electronic music’s female pioneers Sisters With Transistors.

Having just scooped not just one, but two Oscars (Best Sound and Best Film Editing), Sound of Metal sees metal drummer Ruben suddenly lose his hearing while on tour, his life thrown in turmoil.

Also toasting double Oscar success, Judas and the Black Messiah – which won Best Actor in Supporting Role (Daniel Kaluuya) and Best Original Song (‘Fight For You’) – focuses on the struggles of young, charismatic activist Fred, who becomes Chairman of the Illinois’ Black Panther Party chapter.

And family-fun is on the cards with an all-time favourite as Peter Rabbit returns in Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway; the one-and-only Tom and Jerry graduate to the big screen with Tom and Jerry: The Movie; and finally get to find out who will win in Godzilla Vs. Kong!

An Lanntair Cinema will re-open with reduced seating capacity and adherence to social distance and government guidelines to ensure a safe experience for all.

Customers are asked to use An Lanntair’s online booking system for the purchase of cinema tickets, which has safeguards in place to enable social-distanced seat selection; and to provide contact details for Test & Protect.

An Lanntair will be following Scottish Government guidelines in relation to our cinema bookings – this will allow groups of up to six people to book cinema tickets together from one household (under-12s exempt) in the first instance. We will continue to update guidance on this as soon as further Scottish Government advice is announced.

We do also ask cinema-goers to observe 2m distancing; wear facemasks at all times (unless eating/drinking or medically unable to do so); and that no outside food or drink be brought into the building. Cinema snacks and drinks will be available to purchase from the ground floor shop, and coffees and pre-screening meals from the Café Bar.

Our Cinema Stewards will not ask you for a physical ticket for entry to the cinema, but for your name and order number. And between cinema screenings, An Lanntair’s auditorium will be cleaned and disinfected thoroughly with an antibacterial-fogger used to sterilise all seats and contact areas. Hand-sanitiser stations are also available for use throughout the building.
