Django’s Journey

Who’s up for a jazz-pedition with our favourite feline and his intrepid band of musicians? Come and join Children’s Classic Concerts to discover how gypsy jazz began…

This inspiring, interactive and inventive concert is perfect for 4–12-year-olds and their families and is sure to have everyone (whether they are 4 or 94) dancing in the aisles. So come along for a jam-packed hour of toe-tapping tunes! Maybe at the end of it we’ll realise that “everybody wants to be a cat”…!

Dileab 24 – Leverhulme – The Nicolson Institute

Pupils from Gaelic Medium classes at the Nicolson Institute are getting stage ready for Dìleab 2024: Leverhulme. Pupils will take you back one hundred years to look at a particularly interesting time in the history of the island and town and it promises to be a drama packed evening. The script has been written by Angus MacLennan and Coinneach MacIver and tickets should be purchased as soon as possible as it promises to be a fantastic event showcasing the talent of the pupils.

The event has been organised by the Department of Education, Skills and Children’s Services at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar with partnership from Fèisean nan Gàidheal. The Scottish Government have provided funding to bring Dìleab 2024 to fruition.

Afghanistan Is Not Funny

The extraordinary, true story of a comedian (Henry Naylor) and a photographer (Sam Maynard – co-founder of An Lanntair) in war-torn Afghanistan – wrapped up into a play, ‘Afghanistan is not Funny’!

The Langan Band

Join Ayrshire-born John Langan, Alastair Caplin of the Outer Hebrides and Angus-born Dave Tunstall next weekend, as this lawlessly virtuosic trio take to An Lanntair’s stage!

Whilst it is possible to see the evidence of influences the band have drawn on and enjoyed (Trad. Scots music, Eastern European Gypsy, Progressive Jazz and American Old-Time to name a few), the true nature of the sound from The Langan Band is best described as un-pigeon-holeable, yet utterly irresistible. Now signed with international agents in USA, Australia & New Zealand, and Scandinavia, the band are truly on their way to becoming a global paradigm of Scottish creativity and success.
