Seiseanan Trad sa Chafaidh/Bàr

Wed 07 Feb, 7.30pm
Free

Join us for our first Trad Session of 2024!

Do you play the fiddle, pipes, accordion, guitar, sing or play any other trad instrument? Come along to our new Trad Sessions in the Cafe/bar! You can come alone, with friends or with the family, just make sure you bring an instrument to play a traditional tune or two with the group. The sessions will be informal and there will be no pressure to play on your own. They’ll be a great opportunity for people to play together, have a bit of craic and learn some new tunes, whether you’re a seasoned pro or beginner.

Artist Gathering

with Barbara Schober and Ian Waugh

Fri 23 Feb, 6pm
Free, but booking essential

An Lanntair’s Artist Gatherings are monthly social events for island artists of all disciplines, from music, film and theatre to visual art and design. In February, we’re delighted to welcome two visiting artists:

Barbara Schober is a German visual artist whose work has been exhibited internationally, including Australia, the USA, South Africa and across Europe. Barbara was inspired to visit Lewis by An Lanntair’s Hebridean Dark Skies Festival, as she prepares for an artist residency in Spitsbergen (Svalbard) in October and continues to develop a piece of work called Moonshots.

Ian Waugh is a writer, director, and artist who grew up in the north of England and works primarily with film and photography, exploring “existential narratives and the physical and psychological experience of place, where internal journeys are reflected within isolated and fragile landscapes”. Ian is visiting Lewis as part of An Lanntair’s artist residency programme.
