Culture Collective Summer School Art Exhibition

WEDNESDAY 25 OCT – PREVIEW EVENT, 7pm-9pm

Hosted by Comann Eachdraidh Sgire Bhac, (Back Historical Society) Gaelic Broadcaster Kenneth Maciver will be in conversation with Iain Murray, a participant on the art course which took place at the Castle Grounds in Stornoway this summer. Included, is a launch of ‘An t-Seada’ (The Shed) a short film by Ishbel Murray featuring interviews with local people about their own creative pursuits. Refreshments and home baking provided.

THURDAY 26 – SATURDAY 28 OCT, 12pm – 5pm

An exhibition of artworks by those who took part in the summer art school and step by step drawing classes delivered by Ishbel Murray.

FRIDAY 27 OCT – MEET THE ARTISTS, 7pm-10pm

We invite you to join us for a special event where you can view the work, meet the artists themselves and enjoy a social evening featuring live music from Scott C Park and refreshments.

Don’t forget to book onto our newest round of evening workshops, beginning this week and next! There a number of workshops to choose from including a workshop where you can practice your drawing skills, an experimental textile workshop, ball room dancing, and more!

Dùthchas workshop with May Byrne – starts Monday 30 October

In this workshop participants will be using a range of visual arts techniques to explore heritage using photographs/images. These will be combined with background papers to create expressive artworks. Those signing up will paint, collage, create patterns and textures and build up layers to create works personal to you.

This workshop will be of interest to anyone interested in combining the past with contemporary mixed media approaches. Suitable for any level.

Songwriters Circle

Are you a songwriter, or aspiring to be?

An Lanntair’s monthly songwriters’ circle is an opportunity to share your music with other songwriters. With no audience and no expectations, you can try out new ideas, ask for feedback, and perhaps even find someone new to collaborate with.

 

We welcome musicians at any stage in their creative development, from beginners to experienced musicians looking to try out something new.

The songwriters’ circle is hosted by An Lanntair’s artist support co-ordinator (and songwriter) Andrew Eaton-Lewis.
