During Climate Week 2026, join visual artist and teacher Kirsten McIlroy for a workshop exploring the beauty and fragility of the wild salmon. Participants will learn how to create an embossed drawing of a salmon on foil, using ink to bring out the details.

The resulting shoal of foil salmon will be hung together on An Lanntair’s walkway, along with salmon made by children and families in Mini-make sessions throughout the week. Inspired by the stark decline in numbers of wild salmon, the artwork will offer a visual reflection of the impact of climate change on this species and the wider ecosystem.

Funded by Climate Hebrides, this creative workshop invites participants to explore environmental change through art. The Climate Hebrides Islands Resilience Conference: Changing Landscapes, will be held in An Lanntair on Friday 2nd October. Find out more about Outer Hebrides Climate Week here
