Naked Gneiss is a photographic exhibition by resident archaeologist Ian McHardy, documenting the removal of peat during major developments at Arnish, near Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis.
McHardy’s photographs capture the vast quantities of peat removed during construction of the deepwater port and access roads, revealing the bedrock beneath a landscape shaped by thousands of years of peat growth.
Presented in the Café Bar at An Lanntair, Stornoway, the exhibition offers a striking look at the changing landscape of Arnish and the impact of development on the natural environment
