Scotland’s Loudest Library comes to Lewis!

The Music Broth library is coming to An Lanntair on Tuesday 22nd October.  The team will be delivering free music workshops and letting you see some of the 3000 fantastic instruments available to hire.  Join the library in advance at MusicBroth.org to reserve items for collection that day.

Flute: 12.15pm-1pm
Learn with Jenny how to get sounds out of a classical flute, improve your skills, or try advanced tecniques such as singing while playing.
This workshop is suitable for all abilities and we will have around 6 flutes for people to use, with sanitising wipes between uses.

Bass Guitar: 1pm-1.45pm
Learn Bass with Caroline! Caroline is an accomplished bassist who has performed live with many bands in many genres and styles. This workshop is suitable for bassists of all levels with around 4 bass guitars for workshop participants to share.

Drums: 1.45pm-2.30pm
Try a drum kit for the first time, or get tips on technique and live performance hacks from our drum tutor Jenny. Jenny is a touring musician with several bands and has been teaching drums for 10 years.
We will have 2 full drum kits, participants will each get a turn to try them and learn beginner, intermediate and a few advanced skills.

Music Production: 2.30pm – 3.15 
JP Waksman composes and produces music for artists, exhibitions, film and television all over the world. They are a talented multi-instrumentalist and can play and record music in many styles. Join JP as they talk through and demonstrate production techniques on a laptop.

Rap + lyric Writing: 3.15-4pm 
Johnny Cypher is one of Scotland’s most prominent grassroots musical activists. He uses his musical skill and passion for teaching to empower people to tell their stories and express themselves through rap and songwriting. Johnny has a fully-interactive setup for teaching many people at a time to find the best rhymes to express what they want to say in musical way.

Industry Panel: 4pm-4.45pm 
Covering Booking Tours, Promotion, Music Journalism, Tech work, Studio work, Band Merch, Tips for surviving on tour, Building your band’s presence online, Releasing your recorded music, Radio Plays, Searching for grants, and Writing Music for Commissions. Music Broth founder Jen O’Brien teams up with tutors JP, Jenny, Caroline and Johnny to share all of their collective knowledge in a Q A -style panel. This workshop is ideal for people interested in branching out into other area of the music industry or building up and progressing their musical project.
