‘Artists in the wild’ is a Culture Collective project that will introduce participants to island based artists.  The project involves visiting different artists across Lewis and Harris learning about their work and motivations.  The artists will then take participants out into the landscape where they will engage in a creative visual arts activity.  Activities will vary with each artist.

My visual stimulation and inspiration is generated by my surroundings. The main influence on my work is my response to my environment. I draw and paint in an expressive and representorial way, directly from life, out on location “en plain air”. I use a variety of materials, often in a single work, currently using waterbased paint and inks on paper. Though I still love oil on canvas.

The meeting place will be the entrance to Lews Castle

Participants should bring a small backpack with a packed lunch and a drink, as well as their own sketching materials. Walking boots and waterproofs would be a good idea.
