An Lanntair’s Artist Gatherings are monthly social events for creative islanders across all disciplines, from music, film and theatre to visual art and design. You do not need to be established or professional to come along. Everyone is welcome and we are here to support all forms of self-expression.
Each month we invite two special guests to talk about their work.
Tom Hickman is a visual artist who has worked across painting, embroidery and sculpture, and recently creating an extraordinary installation of home-made dolls’ houses for An Lanntair’s main gallery. In his talk, Tom will talk about the creative impulse that leads artists repeatedly to explore new media and ideas.
Steven Tod has just published a memoir, Ghost Kingdom, an unflinching account of failures in the adoption system and his own childhood experiences as “a mixed-race baby in a white world that didn’t want him”. In September 2026 Steven was due to travel to Barbados, the home of his biological father, and he will share the story of that journey.
