Primary school classes are invited to visit Sue Blair and David Greenall’s exhibition Peantadh is Obair-Chreadha: Painting and Ceramics which is currently in An Lanntair’s gallery.
The visit will start with a tour in the gallery followed by a creative workshop where pupils will make a triangular prism pinch pot, inspired by one of Sue Blair’s pots. They will experiment with rolling out and cutting clay tiles, and pressing natural materials into the clay. They will then construct a simple pinch pot from the air-drying clay. You might want to bring leaves, twigs and other natural materials collected from around the school grounds.
The creative activity is suitable for classes of up to 14 pupils at a time. With larger classes we can split into 2 groups. One group will make oil pastel drawings in the community room inspired by David Greenall’s paintings, while the other group makes clay pots. The groups can then swap activities.
The workshop is available in English or Gaelic the new term in limited slots until 3rd May. Get in touch to arrange a visit to suit your timetable and travel arrangements.
