SUATHADH DÌLEAB: TOUCHING INHERITANCE

Calum Angus Mackay & Sandra Kennedy

Two acclaimed Island artists, Calum Angus Mackay and Sandra Kennedy, are on display at An Lanntair throughout February.   The exhibition includes large canvases, photographs, and a short film by Calum Angus on ‘Steallag’, simply titled ‘An Gobha’ – The Blacksmith.

Having pursued a career in media and film-making Calum Angus Mackay returns to exhibit a new body of photographs and 6 large canvases. Also included is a short 15 minute film on Calum ‘Steallag’ the last practicing blacksmith on the Island and titled simply ‘An Gobha’. An important document on our disappearing heritage. Calum Angus has two acclaimed touring exhibtions to his credit ‘By Fin By Wing By Hoof’ and ‘Isolate’ both which were toured nationally by Edinburgh’s Portfolio Gallery and shown at the original An Lanntair.

Sandra Kennedy from South Lochs has done some fine sculptural work and has ventured into abstract landscape painting. These large paintings were created as part of aGaelic Arts Strategic Development (GASD) residency via Pairc Trust. Sandrahas also previously exhibited at An Lanntair in a joint show with Mary Morrison.
