This exhibition is the culmination of many years of research by the well known Gaelic writer and broadcaster Dr. Finlay Macleod.
Through the illustrations of John Love & Alick Matheson, photos, artefacts and a reconstruction of a mill by Jim Crawford, this exhibition highlights the history, archaeology and also the culture and lore surrounding the essential processes involved in providing the staple diet of islanders for millennia. The exhibition also suggests that there is an intrinsic sculptural quality to many of the artefacts which compliments the simple labour of their construction.
