‘Se màthair, tidsear is croitear mi, an seo ann an Eilean Leòdhais. Nam’ ealanach, a dhionnsaich mo dhreuchd leum fhìn, ‘s toigh leam na speuran mòra agus na fairgean dràmadach a tha air a bhi mar dùsgadh-intinn dhomh. Bu chaomh leam a-riamh a bhi a’ peantadh, a’ cleachdadh dathan-uisge an toiseach agus an deidh sin acrylic air canabhas. Tha m’obair mu dheidhinn a bhi a’ glacadh cruth san tìr le dathan is tònan diofaraichte.
Tha a mhòr chuid de m’obair air socrachadh air baile Tholstadh bho Thuath far a bheil pailteas de thràighean, creagan, sualaichean agus mòinteach gaoitheach. Ach bi mi cuideach a’ rannsachadh àitean eile ann an ceann a tuath na h-Alba: na Hearadh, Uibhist, Barraigh ‘san t-Eilean Sgiathanach na measg.
I am a mother, a wife, a teacher and a crofter here on the Isle of Lewis. I am a self-taught artist who loves the big skies and dramatic seas which have always been a huge source of inspiration for me. I have always enjoyed painting, first in watercolour then in acrylic on canvas. My art is about capturing shape and form of the landscape using different tones of colour.
Much of my work is centred around the village of North Tolsta, Isle of Lewis. Beaches, cliffs, waves and windswept moorlands are plentiful. I do however, explore other locations of the North of Scotland including Harris, Uists, Barra, Skye and NW Highlands.
