A collaboration of a writer, poet, storyteller and a visual artist.
Venue: Museum nan Eilean at Lews Castle
A collaborative exhibition by Museum nan Eilean and An Lanntair
A collaboration of a writer, poet, storyteller and a visual artist. Making work in response to journeying by sea from their home port of Stornoway, in counterpoint with their responses to overland and coastal travel in other continents. Both aspects make links to the permanent collection in the opening display at Museum nan Eilean. The works will include framed artists’ prints, artists’ books, video installation, ready made objects, sculpted objects, earth pigment paintings and works on paper. The main body of work is based on offshore voyages to Scotland’s outlying islands. These include The Shiants, St Kilda, Sula Sgeir, Sule Skerry, Shetland and Fair Isle. This is offset by representing the artists’ responses to travels in contrasting territories.
