3 Jul - 31 Aug 2010

An Lanntair 25th Anniversary signature show.  In March 1985 the inaugural show at An Lanntair was In and Around the Palace, a harrowing photographic essay on the homeless in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket.  Since then Shawbost-born Murdo Macleod has gone on to be a UK Press Photographer of the Year and for over a decade has featured regularly in the Guardian and the Observer newspapers.  25 years on, his portfolio includes striking, at times definitive portraits of luminaries, newsmakers and personalities including Bill Clinton, Roy Keane, Ricky Gervais, Tilda Swinton and Michael Schumacher as well as documentary images of major political and environmental events from  Foot and Mouth to the recent financial crisis.

Murdo was born and raised in Shawbost on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis. He went to Shawbost school and then on to Napier College in Edinburgh where he completed a course in photography.
