Gairm Nan Gaidheal

27 Oct - 6 Dec 2014

Gairm nan Gaidheal is a collaboration between The Creative Cell and Proiseact nan Ealan, that includes personal stories from throughout the Islands with contributions from Barra, Eriskay, South Uist, Benbecula, Grimsay, North Uist, Berneray, Scalpay and Lewis.  It is a moving testimony to the price that the Islands and the Gaelic communities paid over the four years of carnage on Land and Sea that became known as the Great War. This is the first in a series of exhibitions focusing on the significant contribution made by islanders to the Great War. This exhibition focuses on Lewis. Other exhibitions will be delivered in Harris, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist, Eriskay and Barra over the next few months.
