Grounded is an artistic examination of Australian Aboriginal and Scottish Gaelic culture, language, displacement and sense of place. The exhibition by Judith Parrot juxtaposes photographic prints, audiovisual, sound and prose, from residencies with the Wangkangurru, Arrarnta and Arrernte people of the Central Australian Desert, and the Gaelic speaking communities of the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, from when she was based on Lewis with the Proiseact nan Ealan, the Gaelic Arts Agency and on Uist with Ceolas Gaelic Music and Dance School. The exhibition is an expression of the important connection between people and place; how, although literally a world apart, there are as many similarities as differences between us. The exhibition was successfully launched at Festival 2014 XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and will tour onward to Australia from an Lanntair.
