The time is here! It’s Christmas – the most wonderful time of the year, and An Lanntair is ready for the season’s festivities to begin!
The Christmas winds have swept through An Lanntair, giving us a Yuletide makeover – the tree is up, baubles, teddy bears and all, our shop is bedecked in a gingerbread house guise, and the fairy lights are twinkling over the Café Bar, as An Lanntair invites all to come-in from the cold and join the festive fun.
A hot chocolate to warm you up, a meal to go with it, we have plenty new movies to watch, as well as events and workshops to get stuck into – and look out for some Special Offers coming for the Café Bar and Shop!
An Lanntair will be calling ‘Ho-Ho-Ho!’ on Saturday 4 December as we kick off our Christmas celebrations at 10am with a merry Meet-the-Makers event in the foyer, a chance to meet and greet four artists and craft-makers, some of the lovely little elves who help stock An Lanntair’s Shop.
At 1pm and 3pm An Lanntair cinema screens the CBeebies Christmas Show: The Night Before Christmas – sprinkled with plenty of CBeebies magic, festive music, stunning dance performances and a star cast of CBeebies presenters and on-screen talent, it’s an engaging theatrical spectacle for all the family.
And both CBeebies Christmas Show screenings will be Relaxed Screenings, designed to make the cinema more inclusive and accessible for people with sensory sensitivities, and others who can benefit from this environment with sound and lights on low, no trailers, freedom to move around, and a break-out quiet space for anyone who needs it.
An Lanntair Christmas celebrations continue at 2pm as we welcome local Carol Singers for some seasonal songs; and at 7pm, in good Christmas tradition, it’s time to sit back and enjoy the latest Hollywood blockbuster as we welcome sci-fi epic Dune to An Lanntair cinema.
In the Main Gallery will be new exhibition End of Engines – opening on Friday 3 December, 5pm. An Lanntair’s COP26 flagship exhibition, the multimedia installation by artist Robbie Thomson looks at the alchemical properties of oil and the gloaming of the combustion engines as symbols for our age of consumption.
One of the best things about Christmas of course is the food – and the Café Bar at An Lanntair presents its mouth-watering new Christmas Menu, ideal for a cosy meal out with your loved one, a festive family get-together, or a Secret-Santa night with your work mates.
The Christmas Menu is available on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout December and must be booking in advance. The Café Bar at An Lanntair is open 10am-8pm Tuesdays to Saturdays; with the Bar open to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
And keep an eye out on An Lanntair’s social media throughout December for the new An Lanntair Advent Calendar, with something exciting revealed daily, including some specials from the Café Bar and Shop.
In December An Lanntair will also host a series of festive-themed children and families workshops, and in our own Christmas tradition, we invite all to take a Christmas Eve moment to pause and enjoy the iconic It’s a Wonderful Life on the big screen. We look forward to seeing all there!
