Internationally acclaimed singer, musician, and composer Maggie MacInnes performs original arrangements of songs from a previously unreleased private archive recorded by her mother, Flora MacNeil from Barra. Captured in the 1950s and 60s by Australian folklorist Dr James Kalokerinos, the source collection includes rare gems alongside traditional songs that Flora helped make popular during her lifetime.
Now, with the assistance of Creative Scotland, Maggie has developed this show as a tribute to her mother and those other tradition bearers who passed on songs to her as she grew up. She is accompanied by several of Scotland’s finest musicians – Calum Park, Conal McDonagh, Wendy Weatherby, Dan Brown and Alex Palmer.
