Anesu agus na Creutairean Uisge

Sat 1 Nov

The story (and process of making and sharing the book) centers the experience of Afro Gaels in Scotland, and children moving to Scotland for the first time.

The lead character, Anesu, has recently moved from Zimbabwe with her family, and is beginning her first day of school. Encouraged by her teacher and classmates, Anesu shares experiences from Zimbabwe, and the story of a water spirit called Njuzu, inspiring her class to share and grow closer in turn.

The book, aimed at children aged 5 – 9, is a new Gaelic Children’s book written by BBC Alba children’s presenter and actor Tawana Maramba.  Beautifully illustrated by Ann MacLeod, the book also contains drawings and collages that were made following a series of GME children’s workshops led by Tawana in 2023.
