From the salons of Paris to the peat fires of South Uist, American folklorist Margaret Fay Shaw’s life was extraordinary. Devoted to preserving Gaelic song, story, and image, leaving a legacy that resonates internationally to this day.
Like Margaret, archivist and Gaelic singer Fiona J Mackenzie from Dingwall, learned Gaelic and lived and worked in Canna House, where she too embraced Gaelic language and culture, and fell in love with the songs of the Hebrides.
