Description
Best known for his Hollywood work on blockbusters such as Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby, alongside his own classical and solo albums, Scottish composer Craig Armstrong pursued his interest in Gaelic Psalm music, teaming up with Lewis musician and composer Calum Martin and local Psalm singers, to create a unique and very special collection.
The piece of music, entitled Ballantyne, was premiered at An Lanntair in August 2016, in a concert which saw Armstrong and Martin joined by members of the Scottish Ensemble; local cellist – and former Ensemble member – Neil Johnstone; Highland fiddler Duncan Chisholm, and a host of Psalm singers from congregations throughout Lewis and Harris.
