Co-commissioned by An Lanntair and 14-18 NOW in commemoration of the HM Iolaire centenary, SÀL was written by Lewis born musician/composer Iain Morrison with imagery/film by pioneering Scottish artists Dalziel + Scullion. A technical and emotional tour de force, SAL presents a meditation on the question of who we are, fashioned by events, context, and place as it remembers the loss of over 200 lives when the HMY Iolaire, crowded with soldiers returning home from WWI, sank just yards from the home shores on January 1, 1919.

SÀL premiered at An Lanntair with a performance in October 2018 as part of a programme of events to commemorate the HMY Iolaire centenary.
