New Head Chef Stirs Things Up with a Delicious New Menu at An Lanntair

An Lanntair will launch its new Café Bar Menu this Saturday (29th October).  New Head Chef Kenny Mackay joins the team at An Lanntair from the renowned and award winning Stravaigin Restaurant in Glasgow.  Bringing over ten years’ experience at top end restaurants, Kenny’s creative flair and passion for local produce will offer An Lanntair’s customers in Stornoway a superb new dining experience.

Large plates, small plates, local seafood and delicious local produce. Our new food menu has it all.

Hot, cold, fizzy or just plain delicious – quench your thirst with our drinks menu.

The all day menu launching this Saturday is bursting with fresh, locally sourced produce.  Packed with new ideas, customers will be treated to a menu with everything from An Lanntair’s own haggis, neeps and tatties, to existing firm favourites such as our classic chowder.  A daily specials board with ‘Chef’s Choice’ dishes each day of the week will celebrate everything that seasonal local produce has to offer.  Customers can choose to drop in anytime for a meal in a relaxed café environment, or book a table in the evenings for a more intimate table service experience.   All served in An Lanntair’s beautiful waterfront café bar setting, overlooking Stornoway Harbour.

“My priority with this new menu is to stay true to the superb local produce of these islands….” says An Lanntair’s new Head Chef, Kenny Mackay “…For example, you’ll see that my specials board will celebrate locally sourced seafood every day.  I want our customers to experience something with us that they can’t get anywhere else on Lewis.  For that reason, the team and I will be making our own haggis here in the An Lanntair kitchens.  You’ll also see some great new creative vegetarian and healthy meal options on my new menu.  I am delighted to be launching this new menu with An Lanntair’s fantastic kitchen and café bar team this week.”  

An Lanntair’s new menu will be sourced from a whole host of local suppliers, including Isle of Lewis Cheese, Williamsons, Grillburger, Nenna’s mussels from Loch Leurbost, other locally sourced fresh fish and Willie John’s.

An Lanntair’s Café Bar is part of ‘An Lanntair Trading Ltd’, a subsidiary company set up to financially support the charitable activities of An Lanntair arts centre. Profits generated by the trading company are fed back into the charitable work of An Lanntair, which includes its arts programme and extensive education and outreach work.  An Lanntair Trading, which also includes the art centre shop, employs its own team of staff and does not receive any public funding or grants. It is a local business which has helped to support and develop An Lanntair arts centre to become a key employer for the Isle of Lewis and promoter of the arts and culture of the Outer Hebrides.
