The Golden Age – Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas

Sat 24 Apr

Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas celebrate 20 years of touring and recording with a special concert in honour of ‘The Golden Age’ – a time in the mid-18th century when Scotland was aflame with creativity, music, and dance, embarking on ‘The Scottish Enlightenment’.

Join Alasdair and Natalie in this livestream concert, hosted on digital platform Mandolin, as the pair perform tunes from an array of characters of the time, including of course, Niel Gow, the doyen of Scottish fiddlers, who famously met with Robert Burns on his ‘Tour of the Highlands’.

Gow and his cellist brother Donald were in great demand to play for dances, causing great excitement with the fiddle and cello. And fast forward to present day – Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas are also known for their cutting-edge fiddle and cello musical explorations.

They have journeyed far and wide, playfully cajoling their instruments into new and original territory as well as paying their respects to the ‘old tunes’ they love. Fraser and Haas have recorded seven albums over the past 20 years, displaying dazzling compositions and arrangements, driving, dancing rhythms, and their shared passion for the invention on the melody and the groove of Scottish tunes and beyond.

Please note: This concert is hosted on digital platform Mandolin. You will receive an electronic ‘ticket’ and be prompted to create a Mandolin account, requiring only your name and email address. You can access the show, at the appointed time, through your Mandolin account, as well as make comments in the chat line open to other audience members and the artists. Further info can be found at:
