These after-school sessions for 5-8 year-olds provide a firm foundation in general musicianship and basic note-reading skills through singing and listening activities, movement and the playing of percussion – tuned and untuned. They act as a great springboard for children interested in beginning a musical instrument, and for those studying one already as they will enhance and develop what has already been learned.
Music theory is taught using Music Mind Games, a colourful, multi-sensory resource comprising hundreds of entertaining and co-operative games designed to tap into children’s natural desire to play.
Though in the past Music Makers was for children and parents to attend together, given that places are now very limited, children can attend this class by themselves.
