My artwork is a response to the topography and structures of the island environment, each image capturing fleeting moments of significance which tell the story of this magical place.  I have explored the way that transitory textures, shapes and patterns are created by the tides and winds that mould and sculpt the landscape.  The edges and margins where sea and sand meet.  Working from drawings and photographs, I reinterpret these into my printmaking, to recreate the beauty, detail and rich tapestry that results from the juxtaposition of natural and man-made settings.

I studied at the University of North Carolina USA and Hereford College of Art.  I now live on the Isle of Lewis and work from my Studio in Back.  I teach printmaking workshops at An Lanntair, online and in my studio and am passionate about sharing the skills of this versatile artform with others.

My work is exhibited both locally and further afield:

Tha m’obair ealain mar fhreagairt do chruthan an àrainneachd. Gach ìomhaigh a’ glacadh priobaidhean cudromach a tha ag innse sgeulachd an àite draoidheil seo. Tha mi air rannsachadh an dòigh a tha cungaidhean agus pàtranan air an cruthachadh leis a’ ghaoith is na tìdean-mara a tha a cumadh an tìr. Na h-oirean far a bheil muir is gainmheach a’ coinneachadh. Ag obair bho dhealbhan is dealbhan-camara tha mi a’ fiachainn ri bòidhchead ath-chruthachadh, san oir-ghrèis bheartach a tha a tighinn bho cho-shamhlachadh suidheachaidhean nàdarrachd is innealtachd.

Dh’ionnsaich mi mo cheàrd aig Oilthigh Carolina a Tuath, agus Colaiste Ealain Hereford. Tha mi a-nis a fuireach ann an Leòdhas agus ag obair a-mach às an stiùidio agam air A’ Bhac. Bidh mi a teagaisg clòdhaireachd agus bùthan-obraich aig an Lanntair, air-loidhne agus na mo stiùidio. Tha mòr-dhèidh agam gu sgilean san dreuchd ealan iol-chomasach a roinn le càch aig a bheil ùidh.

Tha m’obair foillsichte gu h-ionadail agus nas fharsainge.
