15 FEBRUARY – Unfortunately this event has now had to be cancelled due to illness. All ticket-holders will be contacted and offered a refund.

The Hebridean Dark Skies Festival is delighted to welcome Stephen Mackintosh of Highland Astronomy back to Lewis for a stargazing event at Calanais Visitor Centre.

Stephen presents astronomy talks and stargazing sessions all over Scotland; he has previously hosted popular Dark Skies events at the Edge Cafe at Gallan Head, Comunn Eachdraidh Nis and Kinloch Community Hub, as well as an online event in 2021.

As part of our 2022 programme Stephen will also be doing Highland Astronomy events at Grinneabhat and the Scaladale Centre.

This will be an indoor event but will include – weather permitting – a walk under the stars at Lewis’s most famous historic site.

The Hebridean Dark Skies Festival is supported by Caledonian MacBrayne, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Culture and Business Fund Scotland. We would also like to thank our event partners, Calanais Visitor Centre, Stornoway Astronomical Society, Gallan Head Community Trust, and Lews Castle College UHI , as well as Cala Hotels, Outer Hebrides Tourism, and VisitScotland.
