Constellation | reul-bhad is a new group exhibition commissioned by the Hebridean Dark Skies Festival, in which seven Hebridean artists create new work in response to the festival’s themes of astronomy, darkness, and our night skies.
The image above is taken from Deiseal by Jon Macleod, a previous project for which Jon set up 50 solargraph cameras across the Isle of Lewis from 21 December to 21 June, as “a kind of slow CCTV designed to capture the particular extremes of light and dark in the islands across the year”.
You can watch interviews with three of the Constellation artists, Jill Smith, Trish Bell and Mhairi Law, at the links below.
The Hebridean Dark Skies Festival is supported by Caledonian MacBrayne, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Culture and Business Fund Scotland. We would also like to thank our event partners, Calanais Visitor Centre, Stornoway Astronomical Society, Gallan Head Community Trust, and Lews Castle College UHI , as well as Cala Hotels, Outer Hebrides Tourism, and VisitScotland.
