We join Hansel & Gretel as they embark on an adventure deep into the woods, followed by a beguiling Witch and her mysterious raven. Gretel leaves a trail of breadcrumbs to help them find their way home, only to realise that the mischievous Raven has been stealing the crumbs along the way. The beautiful Witch conjures for the children a dancing Sweet Treat, who looks good enough to eat. Hungry and tired, the children begin to bicker and squabble, and the Witch uses her magic to send them both to sleep. They wake outside an enchanted gingerbread house and, upon entering, find all the food they could ever wish for – along with a leaping chef and ragdolls that come to life. However, the house belongs to the Witch who is clearly not all she seems – she plans to fatten them up and eat them! The young Hansel and Gretel must rely on each other and work together to trick the Witch and make their escape.
Dancers from Scottish Ballet will feature in this family favourite alongside talented students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The performance is set to the music of Engelbert Humperdinck, recorded live by the Scottish Ballet Orchestra
