In this eight week series of classes participants will have the opportunity to create a ceramic piece/s of artwork with supporting sketches and drawings in response to a choice of theme:

1. A vessel/s based on a natural form associated with the sea.
2. A textured platter/s.
You may choose one or both themes.

You will develop responses and ideas on paper using inspirational objects and images connected with their chosen theme. You will become familiar with terms used in ceramic processes and develop experience in methods of hand building in clay and glazing.

Over the duration of the course you will further develop creative responses into forming a piece or pieces of artwork constructed from clay, refining the handbuilding techniques of pinching, coiling, slab building and decorative techniques including glazing.

There will also be the opportunity for you to pursue your own designs.
