Enjoy a quick and easy making project while you relax with an afternoon cuppa. As part of our fundraising efforts for WIAMH, staff members will lead craft sessions on Thursdays in April. Take part in nail varnish marbling a glass or jar; make an easy flick-book; plan for your post-Covid adventures with a coffee jar bucket list; and make a notebook with pockets for storing secrets. All of these simple projects can be made with easily available household items.
Thurs 1 Apr, 3pm: Coffee Jar Bucket List with Catriona Hill
Decorate and personalise a jar then fill it with notes of all the trips, visits and hugs you’re going to have when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. Bring: a clean coffee jar (glass or aluminium) or other large jar, quick drying paint or paint pens, paper, string, scissors, glue and pens.
Thurs 8 Apr, 3pm: Nail Varnish Marbling with Moira Macdonald
If you have old nail varnish sitting around, use it to create beautiful candle holders. Bring: a few glass jars, old nail varnish, nail varnish remover, cocktail stick, newspaper and ice-cream tub or other disposable container.
Thurs 22 Apr, 3pm: Secret Notebook with Joe Mahony
Make a special small notebook or sketchbook with pockets for treasures. Bring: A3 paper, different coloured thick paper or card for the cover and a glue-stick.
Each session will last around 20-30 minutes. A Zoom link will be emailed to you. Please consider making a donation to WIAMH through our Just Giving page!
Throughout the lockdowns and uncertainty of the past year, WIAMH has continued to provide mental health support and services to so many local residents across the islands. This work is so important – we agreed as a team that we would like to support this organisation to continue these activities at this challenging time for our communities.
WIAMH is a small but very important locally-based charity located on the Isle of Lewis. The organisation embraces the recovery model and works in partnership with a range of statutory and third sector agencies to support people experiencing mental ill health and substance misuse issues.
As well as Coffee Break Crafts, members of staff will be undertaking challenges including walks; sharing music; running; collecting litter and dancing. Thank you for supporting our fundraising efforts. Click here to donate to WIAMH through our Just Giving page!
