What do art and astronomy have in common?
What can artists and astronomers learn from each other?
Let’s find out together…
A Day of Creativity and Curiosity is a whole day of conversation, workshops and performances programmed by An Lanntair in partnership with Ione Parkin and Gillian McFarland (pictured above with Chris Lintott), lead artists on Creativity and Curiosity, an ongoing project bringing together artists and astronomers.
Our packed programme will include:
- Universe (of Music), in which Sky at Night presenter Chris Lintott and jazz musician Steve Pretty playfully explore the connections between astronomy and jazz.
- A ‘visual moonbounce’ event with media artist Daniela de Paulis, a trained radio telescope operator who can send your images to the moon and back.
- Singer-songwriter Karine Polwart in conversation with guest astronomers.
- Our Amazing Cosmos – Science, Magic, Art and Poetry, with John Brown, Scotland’s Astronomer Royal.
- Visual artist Kate Bernstein and Sian Prosser of the Royal Astronomical Society on collaborating as part of Creativity and Curiosity.
- An astrophotography workshop with Stornoway Astronomical Society.
- An introduction to Creativity and Curiosity with Gillian McFarland and Ione Parkin.
Individual event tickets will be on sale from Monday 4 November. A limited number of day tickets are now on sale at the special ‘early bird’ price of £20.
