The Hebridean Dark Skies Festival welcomes astronomer Stephen Mackintosh back to Lewis for a series of stargazing events.
Stephen Mackintosh (Highland Astronomy ) is a freelance astronomer, night sky photographer and STEM educator based in the Highlands of Scotland. He delivers public outreach astronomy talks, tours, and private stargazing events at select dark sky locations around the Inverness area and wider Highlands.
We look forward to bringing Stephen back to Lewis following a series of successful stargazing events in Ness, Aird Uig and Balallan as part of our second festival.
Please note that due to Covid restrictions this year’s live Highland Astronomy events will be limited capacity and subject to strict social distancing rules.
The Hebridean Dark Skies Festival will run from Friday 5 February to Thursday 18 February, and is led by An Lanntair in partnership with Calanais Visitor Centre, Stornoway Astronomical Society, Gallan Head Community Trust, and Lews Castle College UHI.
The Hebridean Dark Skies Festival is part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community Outer Hebrides LEADER 2014-2020 programme. We also want to say a huge thank you to Caledonian MacBrayne for supporting this year’s festival.
