If you’ve never experienced Bright Club, now is the time, as this unique stand-up comedy night pays its first ever visit to An Lanntair.

Bright Club challenges academics to turn their research into stand-up comedy, teaming them up with professional comedians for ‘a thinking person’s comedy night’ (The Guardian). There have been Bright Club events all across the UK as well as Ireland and Australia. Now the night is making its first ever appearance on the Isle of Lewis as part of the Hebridean Dark Skies Festival.

Bruce Fummey comperes this special Dark Skies themed comedy night, with a line-up featuring Brynley Pearlstone (on gravitational waves), Elise Gallois (on polar night), Emily Nordmann (on the psychology of space exploration), Mike Schiltz (on planetary geoscience) and astrophysicist Joe Zuntz  (also appearing with Catherine Heymans on the festival’s opening night).

Bright Club is part of Dark Skies Discovery Day, a whole day of Hebridean Dark Skies Festival events in partnership with Lews Castle College UHI and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). See everything for just £15/£13.

Recommended for ages 16 and over.

The Hebridean Dark Skies Festival is supported by Caledonian MacBrayne, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Culture and Business Fund Scotland. We would also like to thank our event partners, Calanais Visitor Centre, Stornoway Astronomical Society, Gallan Head Community Trust, and Lews Castle College UHI , as well as Cala Hotels, Outer Hebrides Tourism, and VisitScotland.
